Rev. Fr. Solomon Patrick Zaku, of the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri has been appointed as the new National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Nigeria (PMS); the Holy Father’s evangelization apostolate comprising of the :


Until his appointment, Fr. Zaku was the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) director for Maiduguri Diocese, a position he has held for eight years. He was also elected the National Coordinator of the Pontifical Mission Society for the Propagation of Faith, in 2015. He has served in many capacities in the diocese during his ten years of priesthood in the diocese. His appointment is for a first term tenure of Five years, and renewable after.


Fr. Zaku succeeds Rev. Fr. George Ajana of Ekiti Diocese, whose two terms tenure of 10years, as the National Director ended early this year.


Also, the new National Director of the Directorate of Social Communications, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) Rev. Fr. Michael Umoh has assumed office. He replaces Rev. Fr. Christ Anyanwu of Port Harcourt Diocese, whose two-term tenure at the directorate ended early this year.


Rev. Fr. Umoh, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, was the Director of the Archdiocesan Centre for Media Development, Lagos. A versatile and experienced communicator, Fr. Umoh is a prominent member of the communication apostolate of the Church in the country and has held many positions at the Archdiocesan and national levels.

In his near three decades as priest of the Archdiocese, Fr Umoh has served in many capacities in the missionary evangelization apostolate of the Church in the Archdiocese. These positions include: former Administrator of the Holy Cross Cathedral, director of the Lay Apostolate Centre and Chaplain of the Archdiocesan Laity.

A media educator, broadcaster, and programme/music producer. Fr Umoh is a member of the college of Consultors of the Archdiocese; and is presently a doctoral student of Media and Communication studies at the Centre for Study of African Culture and Communication (CESACC), Catholic Institute of West Africa(CIWA), Port Harcourt, Rivers, Rivers State.
